The more things change.

Sigh. Nine days into march, and only ten daily drawings. Things are not going as I'd hoped. However, I am slowly working on it. some day soon there will be a massive image dump, so I apologies now for that. Let's see, I'm at work, so I can only really talk ( or type, I guess).
I got my first official gig this week. It had a quick turnaround time, but I didn't want to let the client down. So last night I worked diligently into the wee hours, and got three 11x15 illustrations completed. It was a bit nerve wracking, but I got through it. Met with the clients this morning, and they like the pieces, which was a relief. So, yeah, I think I'll get other work from them. Exciting.
I think some of that cash will go towards self printing my comic, 'The Comeback Kid'. Gonna have a fancy color cover and everything. Currently, I'm inking the back up story, and I have my sketches for the cover done. I'm just asking people which cover they like best. As soon as I figure out which one is best, It's off to drawing, then printing!
In other news: soon-ish I will be starting a new blog. It's gonna be a foodie/places in San Antonio blog. It'll be in the blogger format, so keep an eye out. I kinda wanted to start a music blog, but I probably don't have enough time to do it all. Also, I'm not sure if I'm all that confident in my ability to write about music. If I do decide to write about music, I'll probably post it here, anyway.

These are a bunch or riders. They are from a Japanese TV show, 'Kamen Rider', kinda like power rangers. I don't know all that much about it, and I'm not sure how I know of it either. It's one of those things that's always been in my head. The same goes for Ultraman. I think that maybe they used to air the show when I was little, and the character got etched into my brain. Anyway, the show is based off the manga by the same name, created by Shotaro Ishinomori. I love the design of the characters, mainly due to the fact  that they combine two of my favorite things: bugs & robots. What little kid doesn't wanna see a robotic bug riding a motor cycle? Well, I guess American kids, cause they brought the show over when I was a teenager, as 'Masked Rider', and I don't remember it lasting too long. Anyway, here is an image of, I think, the original TV design. It really is a great design.

Yeah, sooo I haven't posted in a while. All this after a promis of daily comics. Guess I've been out of sorts as of late, but I thnk I'm getting over the funk. So, school is done for the semester. Not gonna take any summer classes. My portfolio review went really well. I was a bit shocked. I've made the decision to go to Texas State after this last semester, sooooooooo, we'll see how I'm gonna pay for that. I've been submiting pieces to a few different blog sites, I know one is being posted on wednesday, but I've yet to hear from the others. I'll link to it on the day. I'm really itching to desing a new book, still need to send out the last one out to Quimby's books, see if I can sell any there. Trying to crank out some drawings too. AAAAAAAAND I'm starting designs for a website. So, yeah summer of Carlos type things. EXCITING!!!!!!!! (oh, yeah almost forgot. i also got my Associates, whatever THAT means)

just that, fuck. I think i'm too into this online thing. i just see everyone else's out put and it just... i don't know... I just don't feel that i'm there yet. I feel like my ideas are not defined enough, or that they're not good enough. too stupid. Or in the case of my more introspective stuff, just plain self indulgent. No one wants to read about that. But then again the old adage goes to make "art" for one's self. I dunno.

And Looking at these art comic kids, i feel like i can do that, but when i do it just seems juvenile.

GAH. anyway, don't disregard that up there, but also, don't pay it any attention. i know that all "artists" get like that. I'm just being a whiney bitch and sometimes i need to write this crap down. ugh.

Cromulent Comix!

I just started a Tumblr account; Cromulent Comix!. I didn't wanna leave this here blog, buuuut I did want to mess with the Tumblr. So, my solution was to make it with a different purpose than this blog. After thinking about it, i decided to make it about comic book panels. highlighting the work of different artists & their various works. On some I'll comment on others not so much. stop by if you have the chance, or follow if you're on the tumblr.

today on my day off, i cranked out a few pages. finished thumbnails, and penciled all of the 1st part of my comic, i also inked a few more pages. kinda tired now, so taking a short break. gonna read some, get inspired, go back at it. normally i'd be most pumped about the inks, but now i'm getting more excited about the color. so, hope to get to that after every thing has been inked.

i drank some coffee yesterday & all the caffeine bit me in the ass to work on my comic. Got a page of rough pencils done. so, yeah. probably do another tonight, polish the script a bit, then watch the oscars. Natalie Portman all the way! k, off to gymcata!

Things to come

School starts in a week. Pretty excited, closer and closer to finishing....my associates. ugh. Ah well.

Went down town yesterday, the plan was to go venture into adventure, but it was wet and rainy. Also, our 1st destination was the antique mall, so we spent all our time there. Got me some sweet vintage cameras to add to my collection. I've been wanting to get pictures of buildings so i can do real looking locations, a la Scott Pilgrim. But this is also trying to get to the next step of where I need to be.

For this year I've set a few goals for myself. The ETSY store being one, making a few zines is the second, and trying to get a new art show over at blue star. This is all on top of the goals that have been previously set such as finally graduating & getting my portfolio done. This year is full of awesomeness!

On tonights agenda is to make the banner for my ETSY store, and work on a few comics. Listening to Ink Studs is really inspiring and makes me just want to do comics all day. It's a great show. It is pretty comic book nerdy though, so yeah, it's fuckin' awesome! Right now i'm in a Starbucks attempting to write. We'll see how that goes. ok, enough talking. Back to work!!!!!
