The more things change.

Sigh. Nine days into march, and only ten daily drawings. Things are not going as I'd hoped. However, I am slowly working on it. some day soon there will be a massive image dump, so I apologies now for that. Let's see, I'm at work, so I can only really talk ( or type, I guess).
I got my first official gig this week. It had a quick turnaround time, but I didn't want to let the client down. So last night I worked diligently into the wee hours, and got three 11x15 illustrations completed. It was a bit nerve wracking, but I got through it. Met with the clients this morning, and they like the pieces, which was a relief. So, yeah, I think I'll get other work from them. Exciting.
I think some of that cash will go towards self printing my comic, 'The Comeback Kid'. Gonna have a fancy color cover and everything. Currently, I'm inking the back up story, and I have my sketches for the cover done. I'm just asking people which cover they like best. As soon as I figure out which one is best, It's off to drawing, then printing!
In other news: soon-ish I will be starting a new blog. It's gonna be a foodie/places in San Antonio blog. It'll be in the blogger format, so keep an eye out. I kinda wanted to start a music blog, but I probably don't have enough time to do it all. Also, I'm not sure if I'm all that confident in my ability to write about music. If I do decide to write about music, I'll probably post it here, anyway.

These are a bunch or riders. They are from a Japanese TV show, 'Kamen Rider', kinda like power rangers. I don't know all that much about it, and I'm not sure how I know of it either. It's one of those things that's always been in my head. The same goes for Ultraman. I think that maybe they used to air the show when I was little, and the character got etched into my brain. Anyway, the show is based off the manga by the same name, created by Shotaro Ishinomori. I love the design of the characters, mainly due to the fact  that they combine two of my favorite things: bugs & robots. What little kid doesn't wanna see a robotic bug riding a motor cycle? Well, I guess American kids, cause they brought the show over when I was a teenager, as 'Masked Rider', and I don't remember it lasting too long. Anyway, here is an image of, I think, the original TV design. It really is a great design.
Ok, that's all for this instalment. More drawings soon, I promise!

Looks like Allen the alien from Invinsible

I just drew this I cause I was too lazy to look for something to scan from one of my sketchbooks. Meh. I've semi slagged off due to me falling asleep for 15 hours one day, then being busy. I'll make it up with some double posts soon. Meanwhile, I'm about to finish inking the final pages of my Fashion Sluts comic/zine. I already see tons of stuff that I'd like to change, BUT I think I should use that energy to create new stuff. Learning from my mistakes and all that. Improving on the pages as they come out. Ok, enough rambling. I'm out for now.

Pixels Vs. Panels

LAst night, I participated in the Art Slam Pixels vs. Panels show. My idea was to have Tetsuo vs. Morrigan, video game style. I guess my choice of characters are too obscure, and barely any one knew who they were. Meh. I did like the end result of my efforts though, so there is that.

Scans of swatches

Yeah, so gearing up for daily comics here on the old blog. Have seven new things written, five penciled pages, have about four pages with inked panels, and one inked panel. So there is progress. I made a few new pieces for other blogs, I really liked how they came out. Buuuuut, you won't see 'em till they're published. Deal with it. Anywhoo, these scans are what I used to color one of the pieces with. I need to upload more patterns and images that I can use as color.... Meh. tomorrow bachelor party for my friend cook. We'll see how that goes. K, Weekly comics starting on sunday!!!!!!!! Laterzzzzzzzzzz.

...For your consideration.

Natalie Portman is currently on every ones Buzz list. For good reason too, her portrayal in 'The Black Swan' was amazing. But thinking about her past roles & what i've seen her in, all of her performances are great. 'Garden State' ( a movie many think overrated. not me.) was a fun quirky role. She killed it in 'Closer'. That movie in general was brutal but amazing. 'V for Vendetta': BAM! Another great performance. Her and Jason Shwartzman's scene in 'Darjeeling Limited is my favorite thing about that movie, after the breif Bill Murray part. Plus, she's the presidents daughter in 'Mars Attacks!', forgot about that, huh?

Her roles are never the same, and she doesn't play the same character. she has a virsitility that some of her peers don't have. She's not all about celebrity, and likes to keep her private life, well, private. She is on the road to becoming one of the best actors of her generation, if she's not there already. Coming up on her plate are Three very different movies; a rom-com with Ashton Kutcher, a period comedy from the pinapple express crew, and Muthah Fuckin'THOR! I'm ready and awaiting awesomness all around.

So, in closing: Natalie Portman = GOOD. GoGoGo see Black Swan!

Disney as a cohesive universe

yeah so, i've been thinking lately about the disney animated movies. its a super nerdy question. i wonder if all the movies take place in the same universe. you know, like marvel comics. like, most disney stories take place in a different era or geographical location. the first film to chronologically take place is that damned 3D animation movie "Dinosaur" then followed by "The Emperors new groove"...or something.....maybe "Hurcules". the last flick in that order would be that poorly reviewed "Treasure Planet". Their films that take place in modern times like "Milo & Otis" or "Lilo & Stitch" are pretty much already chronologically done. I'm not too sure where Fantasia would take place, cause that is a bit harder to pin down.I think the only movie that wouldnt share the same universe would be "Chicken Little" since all they all live in a completely anthromorphic society. ok, thats it, i dont really feel like trying to arrange these movies into order. maybe later. here is my punk mickey's gang drawing. maybe i can expand on that. hmmm, okay, laterzzzz.
