The Golden Tumor!
Ah, a new painting done. i was originally gonna do a painting with Beyonce & Lady Gaga. but i couldn't get what i wanted out of the acrylics on canvas. i think that i'll be doing more painting primarily on illustration board. It feels more natural for me. and with the canvas i just feel like i'm not doing my best. I will still be doing paintings on canvas, but i think i'll be changing the way i paint on it. we'll see what happens. This painting was done for a friend. I have no idea where the Golden Tumor came from. I did my background for the Beyonce/Gaga piece, and i liked it, but the Gaga figure i painted was not to my liking. So i just decided to add black. blah, blah, blah. anyway. i'm off!

Been super busy in school. Making so many multiple pieces. Gah, anyway, here's a drawing. AAAAHHHHH, new Girl Talk album is out & it's fantastic! Thinking of seeing him live. Been watching scott pilgrim on a continuous loop. It's such a good flick. I mean I love the comic, but the movie is great for different reasons.

Machete!
Machete... a film that grew out of one or the fake trailers that played on the Grindhouse flicks. when i saw the trailer i totally wished that it was real. fastforward a few years and here we are.
the movie does a good job of inserting all the scenes that were in the trailer. overall i did like the movie, but there was something missing and i cant put my finger on what it was. the movie was over the top... but i think i wanted it to be more over the top. i mean there were ridiculous things that i've never seen before, but it still felt like it was missing that final piece to make it truly awesome.
The cast in this was great. each player bringing their own style to the table, and its always fun to see actors go to town on dialouge like this. danny trejo is awesome as always and knows exactly what to do with it. he's like a mexican ron perlman!
there was alot of action in the film, however being a rodriguez flick i guess i was expecting more and that may be what IS missing. the whole story revolves around the border, fences, and mexicans. so there was alot of 'splainin' being done, so that may have been why the action was cut back a bit.
....i saw lindsy lohans breasts. which i wasn't expecting...buuuut i wasn't surprized either (not bad). it just seemed a bit like a last ditch effort twards her career revival. i did enjoy that she was willing to go all out, as it were, but slightly forced would be the opperative word.
all in all, i did have a good time, and laughed a whole bunch. of course thats with me being hispanic, and living in south Texas. i was able to get all the jokes. i just wonder how this played in a less hispanic audience...or if other viewers saw machete as a bad guy, with them rooting for the cops to kill all those trespassing mexicans.
So, this flick is recommended if youre in the mood for something a bit over the top & doesn't take its self too seriously.
P.S. OOOOHHH, i almost forgrot! my friend eddie was an extra in the film so every time i saw him in the background it was pretty hilarious. plus its a good drinking game!

Pages in Progress
ah, works in progress. this is a random page of my Frankenstein Jonze comic. i think i'm just gonna do this one in the mighty marvel way. where i draw the thing first, then fill in dialog and captions. probably be three or so pages. the fun of these is not knowing where they're going.... however, the other side is not knowing how its gonna finish. anyway, there ya go.

werewolf women
been working on some more art stuff. getting in the groove (as lame as THAT sounds.)the idea for the above piece came pretty quickly and was executed fairly quickly too. i would have been doent that night, but had to go to work. anywhooo.
I still need to see Machete to bask in its mexploitational glory (side note: mexploitation is a damn fine word.) not to mention the expendables. sigh, so many bad movies so little time. DannyTrejo is one of those actors where any time he's in a movie you just smile a bit. In Predators he was one of the best parts. The best part being Laurence Fishburns.
Thiking i'm gonna make my halloween costume this year. i have an idea floating around in my head, but we'll see if i have the time or the skill to execute it.
Tonight i'll be doing some live art while my friends DJ at a local coffee shop, Olmos Perk. not sure what i'm gonna paint yet, but i'll figure it out.
ok, enough rambling, gotta go.
ah, but before i do, i'll leave this video up. It's from Of Montreal, and their new single "Couquet Couquete" the whole album is good, you should check it out.

Disney as a cohesive universe
yeah so, i've been thinking lately about the disney animated movies. its a super nerdy question. i wonder if all the movies take place in the same universe. you know, like marvel comics. like, most disney stories take place in a different era or geographical location. the first film to chronologically take place is that damned 3D animation movie "Dinosaur" then followed by "The Emperors new groove"...or something.....maybe "Hurcules". the last flick in that order would be that poorly reviewed "Treasure Planet". Their films that take place in modern times like "Milo & Otis" or "Lilo & Stitch" are pretty much already chronologically done. I'm not too sure where Fantasia would take place, cause that is a bit harder to pin down.I think the only movie that wouldnt share the same universe would be "Chicken Little" since all they all live in a completely anthromorphic society. ok, thats it, i dont really feel like trying to arrange these movies into order. maybe later. here is my punk mickey's gang drawing. maybe i can expand on that. hmmm, okay, laterzzzz.

evolution of style
i've been trying to do this whole art thing for a while, & its all learning & improving. with my paintings at first i was all about solid colors. very comic book/ saturday morning cartoons. lately though i've been messing around with texture & transperencies. i think part of the beginings of this would have to come from this painting, entitled: "mutha fuckin robot arm". it still has many of my traditional super flat colors, but other stuff is starting to emerge as well. meh, whateves.
